ROZIER, LOUISE
(License ès Lettres et Sciences Humaines, Université de Besançon, France, 1974; M.A.-French, University of Arkansas, 1983; Doctorate of Modern Languages (Italian and French), Middlebury College, 2002) joined the University of Arkansas in 1984 as an instructor and is currently section head of Italian and Assistant Professor of Italian as well. She has participated in several study programs taught in Rome, Italy, and in San José, Costa Rica. Her research interests are in the field of translation and in Twentieth-Century Italian Literature with a particular focus on surrealism, myth, and magical realism. Her translation of Fortunato Pasqualino's The Little Jesus of Sicily was published in 1999 and was awarded the 1996 PEN Renato Poggioli Translation Award. Her book Il mito e l'allegoria nella narrativa di Paola Masino was published in 2004 by the Edward Mellen Press. Currently she is collaborating with John DuVal on the translation of Giorgio Roberti's collection of sonnets entitled A Stick in the Eye
