From
Purchase to Dump
Whenever we purchase items, something always ends up in the trash. For example, a price tag, a "do not remove" tag, the outer wrapping, etc. In this segment of your module, you might have students think about how things get from the store to the home to the dump. On this page, ask them a couple of brainstorming questions about this process. Once they have had a chance to think about it, have them choose any item and then write about its history from purchase to dump in the target language! This would be a written assignment that they could turn in to you.
Questions you might ask:
When you purchase fresh fruits and vegetables, a watermelon for example, what sorts of things happen to the melon before and after you eat it?
When you purchase construction paper, what do you do with it and how much of it ends up in the garbage?
Choose an item of interest to you and trace its history from the time you purchase it until the time it ends up at the dump!
