La cumbia is a typical style of music from Colombia. It is a blend of African, European and Andean Indian music styles. It is also popular in México.Salsa means "sauce" in Spanish. This contemporary dance music is an Afro-Cuban blend which includes elements of jazz and rock. This music was developed in New York by Puerto Rican immigrants. El meringue is a Dominican dance rhythm based on folklore. This type of music is very popular in Latin America.
