The character of Alice in the “Resident Evil” films raises interesting questions about the role of gender in our culture. It shows that the lines of what is “masculine” or “feminine” are blurred. Roles like these point to the fact that biology is not the only reason for differences between the sexes. Most of the differences between the male and female of our society are actually caused by this culture. Alice evolves in her role, much as women’s roles have evolved in western culture to become closer and closer to the role men can play (and vice a versa, but that is another paper). Who knew one could learn so much from a zombie movie? |
