Pay attention to the pronouns ! whether the noun is feminine, masculine or plural !
'la' will precede a feminine noun, 'le' a masculine
and 'les' a plural word
for instance : La tartelette; la crème;
l'éclair; le gâteau au chocolat; les petits choux
Also remember that when you ask something, you
need to use 'de' ('du' for the masculine form and 'de la' for the feminine
form)
for instance : je voudrais du gâteau, de la tarte...
It expresses the idea of amount of something (equivalent of some).
