Remember that this is a 100 point grade that will count on your 4th Quarter Grade Report!
Explanation and Guidelines:
Beginning this week, start listening to Hispanic music in my room. Your goal is to find a song or artist you like enough to memorize in order to perform (lip sync) for a grade. You will perform your song and be videotaped on April 24, 25, 26, Tues., Wed., or Thurs., in the Studio Theatre. We will draw names for order and you will know the specific date and time of your performance in advance. You have until Tuesday, March 27 to choose a song or artist. I will record your song and give you a copy of the lyrics. Listen to this at home, in any car, on headphones while exercising, as you're going to sleep, while getting ready in the morning, free time in my classroom. Your "performance" will be videotaped so you may want to look at it from the perspective of making a music video. It must be tasteful, but very creative and obvious that you know what you are singing!
We will also be viewing the Top 10 performances from my students last year. This should give you an idea of what I expect and what I think is a good performance for this project.
Your lyrics will serve as a vocabulary list for you to use in teaching the class on a give date in April. More details will be available on this assignment after Spring Break. Listening to the tape should help your pronuciation greatly.
Your performance itself will be a 100 point grade. Please refer to the Rubric for details on what you have to do and what I expect of you. Please keep this close at hand until you have performed in April so that you do not forget any details which may cost you easy points. Just because I like competitions, there will also be a Best Performance Award with a nice gift . . . need any more motivation???
The sooner I get your request and tape, the sooner you can begin listening, memorizing, dancing and brainstorming for your performance. Tomorrow is not too soon. With over a month to work on this, I expect a lot. Ask for advice and ideas from peers and teachers . . . Senora Raine included. You may use my room after school if you need a time or place to get together. I will be more than happy to help you in any way possible if you are willing to come to me!!!
¡Muy buena suerte!
