Target Audience

This cultural unit is intended for Spanish I students who possess a basic understanding of family vocabulary. Students should also have had an introduction to the Mexican family structure. Directions are presented in English to better facilitate the completion of the unit with minimal frustration. Students are expected, however, to read, write, listen, and speak in Spanish in this unit.

Concerning grammar, students need a basic understanding of the following concepts:

• first person singular of the verb gustar
• present tense verb conjugations (specifically: tener, vivir, llamar, estar, ayudar, hacer, ser, and ir)
