Target audience
The target audience for this particular website consists of, obviously, French students. However, the level of language used might be a bit too advanced for students enrolled in Elementary I or II. Intermediate French I and/or II students might be able to understand some of the site, but probably not all of it. The students that would best be able to use and understand this website are more advanced French students, possible majors or minors in the field. They need to have a fairly good grasp of the language and be ready for cultural information to supplement their language acquisition and study. 3000-level and above classes could definitely use and benefit from this website. It would work perfectly to supplement a class such as the Culture and Civilization course offered at the University of Arkansas, but any class dealing with cultural aspects of French society and/or history could use the information presented here. The more advanced language level of the target audience is key to being able to completely benefit from the website. Students can always just look at the pictures, but to be able to understand the stylistic and historical analyses, they really need to be at a relatively advanced stage in their French language learning.
