Renewable Biomaterials
February 13-25, 2006 | Gent, Belgium

The aim of the intensive program is to create a comprehensive overview of the sustainable driven production of biomaterials and to analyze the production chain from primary production, transformation and technology of the bioresources into environmentally friendly consumer products or industrial products.

The program involves 30 hours of classwork taught by international experts, practical exercises, excursions, and a multiple choice final examination.

The Intensive Program is an opportunity for students to build relationships with international experts and to explore research possibilities for a lengthier stay.

Proposed courses:

Technology of transformation of bioproducts into industrial products

Renewable biomaterials from carbohydrates and wood: fibers, textiles, biodetergents

Renewable biomaterials from fats and oils: biofuels, biolubricants

Renewable biomaterials from proteins

Biomaterials from waste products

Green chemistry

Socio-economic aspects and policy of renewable resources
