  1. Minutes for the June 16th, 2010, Graduate Council meeting will stand approved if no corrections are received.  (Please review the minutes on the Graduate School web page before the meeting:  http://grad.uark.edu/).  Note:  The Graduate Council did not meet in July.
  2. Announcements
  3. Reports from the Academic Appeals Subcommittee and the Teaching Assistant Effectiveness Advisory Committee
  4. Old Business:  None
  5. Changes, Information Only:
    1. The name of the Department of Psychology will change to the Department of Psychological Science (Attachment A, Attachment B).
    2. The College of Engineering is creating a new department to be called Biomedical Engineering (Attachment C, Attachment D, Attachment E)
    3. The Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering will move from the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering to the new Department of Biomedical Engineering and the degree alpha code will change from BMENMS to BMEGMS (Attachment F, Attachment G).
    4. A proposal for a new Ph.D. degree in Geosciences, approved by the Graduate Council on January 18th, 2007 (http://grad.uark.edu/dean/gradcouncil/minutes/index.php), will be sent to the Faculty Senate.  Budget issues have been resolved, allowing it to move forward.
  6. New Business, Program Changes:   College of Engineering:  Proposal to eliminate all concentrations for the Masters of Engineering degree (Attachment H, Attachment I).
  7. New Business, New Concentrations: 
    1. Walton College of Business, Proposal to create a new concentration in Supply Chain Management in the Ph.D. degree in Business Administration (Attachment J, Attachment K)
    2. College of Engineering:  Proposal to create a new concentration in Biomedical Engineering in the Ph.D. degree in Engineering (Attachment L, Attachment M).
  8. New Business, New Program:  Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences, proposal to create a new graduate certificate in Bioenergy and Sustainable Technology (Attachment N, Attachment O).
  9. Course change report from the University Course and Programs Committee (UCPC) (Attachment P)
  10. Graduate faculty recommendations for graduate assistants:   A preliminary list is attached (Attachment Q).  A complete list will be distributed at the meeting. 
  11. Graduate faculty recommendations for graduate faculty:   A preliminary list is attached (Attachment R).  A complete list will be distributed at the meeting.
