  1. Minutes for the January 19th, 2012, Graduate Council meeting will stand approved if no corrections are received.  (Please review the minutes on the Graduate School web page before the meeting:  http://www.uark.edu/grad).

  4. Possible Old Business
    1. College of Education and Health Professions, Program in Educational Statistics and Research Methods: Proposal to create a graduate certificate (post-master's) in Educational Psychology.
  5. New Business: College of Education and Health Professions, Eleanor Mann School of Nursing,
    1. Proposal to modify the requirements for the Nurse Educator Concentration of the MSN Program (NURMS) as described in Section V of Attachment A.
    2. Proposal to allow up to nine hours of course work to count both toward the BSN (NURSBS) and the MSN (NURSMS) programs (Attachment B). Note that this proposal, if approved, will create a precedent.
  6. New Business: Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food & Life Sciences, Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, and the College of Education and Health Profession,
    1. Proposal to institute a background-check policy for pre-service teachers and school counselors (Attachment C).
  7. Discussion Item:  Would the Council consider a policy eliminating dual enrollment 4000 level classes, and institute, instead, a policy of 4000/5000 dual enrollment classes?
  8. Discussion Item:  Would the Council consider a policy of requiring the Department/Program Head/Chair/Director or Graduate Coordinator signature on the Doctoral Record of Progress, as we do for the Master's Record of Progress? The Doctoral and Master's Records of Progress are attached (Attachments D, E).
  9. Discussion Item:  Graduate enrollment growth per e-mail sent on 2/2/12 (Attachment F).
  10. Course change report from the University Course and Programs Committee (UCPC) (Attachment G)
  11. Course change report that will be heard at the February University Course and Programs Committee (Attachment H). In order for these courses to be in next year's catalog, they must be on the agenda for the March Faculty Senate meeting.
  12. Graduate faculty recommendations for graduate assistants: A preliminary list is attached (Attachment I). A complete list will be distributed at the meeting.
  13. Graduate faculty recommendations for faculty:  A preliminary list is attached (Attachment J). A complete list will be distributed at the meeting.
