  1. Minutes for the May 16th, 2013, Graduate Council meeting will stand approved if no corrections are received. (Please review the minutes on the Graduate School web page before the meeting: http://grad.uark.edu/dean/gradcouncil/minutes/).

  3. Reports from the Academic Appeals Committee and the Teaching Assistant Effectiveness Advisory Committee
  4. Old Business: Department of Music, Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, proposal to add a concentration in Collaborative Music to the M.M. degree (MUSCMM) (Attachment A).
  5. New Business: Program Changes: Walton College of Business: Proposal to modify the candidacy exam procedures for the Ph.D. Degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Information Systems, as described in Section V of Attachment B.
  6. New Business: Policy Change: Proposal from EASL (English as a Second Language) Committee to modify language requirements for international graduate students (Attachment C) and international teaching assistants (Attachment D). [Note: We will not vote on this item at the meeting as we will need feed-back from constituents.]
  7. Discussion: The Graduate School requires that post-candidacy doctoral students be enrolled in course work or dissertation credit every semester until they graduate, including the semester of graduation. Do internship courses such as GNEG 5801 and GNEG 5811 count toward this residency requirement? Neither course is graded and neither carries degree credit.
  8. Discussion: Should we mandate plagiarism checking for theses and dissertations before they can be submitted to the Graduate School to meet degree requirements?
  9. Graduate faculty recommendations for faculty: A preliminary list is attached (Attachment E). A complete list will be distributed at the meeting.
