The State of Arkansas Approves New Graduate Degrees in Space and Planetary Sciences
-- Posted by tfisher on Thursday, November 18 2004

The Arkansas Department of Higher Education has approved the creation of a program of study that will lead to a master's or a doctoral degree in space and planetary science at the University of Arkansas. This is the latest in a series of programs to be created at the University that stress the interdisciplinary nature of learning. Six departments are collaborating to offer the program: chemistry and biochemistry; physics; biological sciences; geosciences; mechanical engineering; and chemical engineering. Several are also offering space and planetary Science as an option in their own doctoral or master's program. Thus, it will be possible to obtain a doctoral degree in physics or biology, or a master's degree in geography or geology, with a concentration in space and planetary Science. For more information, contact Professor Derek Sears, director of the program, at dsears@uark.edu.

Important Note from UA Treasurer's Office
-- Posted by tfisher on Monday, November 1 2004

The UA Treasurer's Office is authorized to withhold registration from students that have failed to meet financial obligations owed to the University per Fayetteville Policy 505.0. Registration will be withheld when the financial obligations are 60 days or more past due and greater than $50 in aggregate. The ISIS system will manage the holds differently than in the past so students that have not met their financial obligations for the fall 2004 semester will have a hold for priority registration for the spring 2005 semester. Students that are on an installment plan and are current on their installment payments will not be subject to a registration hold. If you are concerned about your student account balance, please contact the Treasurer's Office at 575-3447 to discuss your financial status.
