Many college counseling centers provide self-help information on a variety of mental health-related topics. You can access such information through the Student Counseling Virtual Pamphlet Collection sponsored by the University of Chicago.
Psychology: The American Psychological Association provides information on how to choose a psychologist and on mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, anger control, and family and work problems.
Professional Counseling: The American Counseling Association provides information on a variety of mental health topics including educational material and how to choose a counselor.
Psychiatry: The American Psychiatric Association homepage provides information on a variety of mental health topics including choosing a psychiatrist, psychiatric medications, what mental illness is, etc.
Social Work: The National Association of Social Workers provides information about professional standards and ethics in social work. NASW also includes information about careers in social work.
