Testing and Assessment Services

The Testing/Assessment Program is a service provided to University students, faculty, and staff by Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS).

What Services are Offered?

At CAPS, we use a variety of psychological testing/assessment techniques to help our  clients to:

--increase their self-understanding
--determine their level of intellectual ability
--identify their personal strengths and weaknesses
--develop insight for solving personal problems
--better understand their interpersonal style
--improve their intimate relationships
--clarify their moods and emotions.

Testing is also used to identify and diagnose a variety of mental health problems, such as depression, substance abuse/dependence, and anxiety disorders.

How Much Does Testing Cost?

The fee for individual tests is $10 to $20 per test, depending on the test.

Who Does the Testing?

Licensed psychologists, counselors and social workers on the CAPS staff administer, score, interpret and supervise assessments.  Additionally, graduate clinicians in training at CAPS participate in testing under supervision of the CAPS senior staff.

What Testing is NOT Available at CAPS?
Because of our staff training and our mission, we do not:

--test for, diagnose, or prescribe medication for Attention Deficit

  Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD, ADD)
--conduct court  or child custody evaluations
--do neuropsychological testing
--test for learning disabilities
--administer career interest inventories.
