Frequently Asked Questions

Most common questions asked by students about their United HealthCare Insurance.

If I'm ill where do I go?

The Pat Walker Health Center! Your office visit is covered by the Student Health Fee and student insurance covers lab, x-ray, miscellaneous nursing expenses, and $1,000 (per year) in pharmacy items. No Deductible, for other services at the Pat Walker Health Center with a $15.00 co-pay per prescriptions. See policy brochure for policy maximums and allowances.

If I'm experiencing an emergency, where do I go?

Washington Regional Medical Center

What is considered an emergency?

"Life-threatening illness or injury" means those services that are provided in a hospital emergency facility after the sudden onset of a medical condition, with symptoms of sufficient severity, including severe pain, that in the absence of immediate medical attention could result in placing the patient's health in jeopardy; serious impairment; or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. Remember, the insurance provider will not consider your claim for payment if your visit to the emergency room was not a true emergency.

What if the Pat Walker  Health Center is closed and I become ill ?

Most illnesses can wait until the next morning, but alternative care is available.

  • Health South Medical Clinic - 117 E. Sycamore - 521-0200

  • Northwest Arkansas Pediatric Clinic: 8 am to 5 pm Monday - Friday, 8am to 12 noon on Saturday.

  • The Family Clinic in Springdale (beside Northwest Medical Center ) provides out-patient care Monday - Friday 8 am to 9 pm, Saturday 10 am to 5 pm, and Sunday 1 pm to 5 pm.

For planned hospitalization, you will want to use Washington Regional Medical Center. This is the PPO hospital in Washington County . If you use another hospital your benefits are significantly reduced. For a listing of other hospitals, go to https://www.uhcsr.com/
