Regarding postcards in Orientation Packets...
All new students and their guests are receiving a large postcard from the Pat Walker Health Center to inform them about an Immunization Clinic on the second day of each New Student Orientation session. Due to the shortage of vaccine, all Immunization Clinics are cancelled. However, the other side of the postcard includes information about the Pat Walker Health Center and the benefits and services to be found at PWHC.
The Pat Walker Health Center wishes to emphasize that all new students must show proof of two measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccines. It is highly recommended that new students receive an immunization for meningitis as they begin their academic year at the University of Arkansas. Pat Walker Health Center also recommends that all students be up to date on their tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Tdap) vaccination. These vaccines are available at local health departments, at many physician offices and at the Pat Walker Health Center Immunization Clinic*.
To assure availability and as a convenience to new students, a request to reserve a meningitis vaccine may be made by emailing immu@uark.edu by June 30, 2008. Within the email request to reserve a meningitis vaccine, please include
The meningitis vaccination* will be made available during the first week of classes and students will be notified by email reminder of their availability.
