Book 2 - Puzzle 6 Information Sheet and Solution

Travel Clinic

The Pat Walker Health Center offers a Travel Clinic to assist with finding information and getting necessary immunizations while traveling abroad.

Some tips to remember:

  • Diarrhea can be caused by:

·        Uncooked or unpeeled vegetables

·        Ice cubes made from tap water

·        Milk or milk products

·        Food sold by street vendors

·        Raw fish or seafood

  • Choose foods carefully and drink bottled water.
  • Not all vaccines last a lifetime:

·        A booster vaccination for Tetanus and Diphtheria is needed every 10 years

·        Yellow Fever vaccination is good for 10 years.

·        For travelers doing health care work, vaccination with Hepatitis B would need to be confirmed.

  • Ideally, vaccines given for travel should be completed no later than four weeks before departure.
  • Typhoid vaccination is recommended where water contamination exists.
