These Hands Will Never Harm Another

Banner Project

signed bannerSince 1999, the Banner Project has been an interactive project that empowers the campus community to pledge that they will never harm another. Each year, a new “These Hands Will Never Harm Another” banner is created. Students, staff, and faculty lay their hands upon the banner, trace their hands, and sign the banner pledging not to engage in violence against another. This project enables RESPECT members to actively increase awareness about sexual violence and advocate for cultural change regarding the myths and realities of sexual violence. As this project has become another tradition on campus, many students, staff, and faculty seek out the banner for the year and come to again pledge their support. Along with banners from the years past, the most current year's banner is then hung during the last week of Sexual Assault Awareness Month as a reminder to all that many people advocate for the end of violence.
