About SAAM

The National Sexual Violence Resource Center states:

       "Designated as Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), April brings an annual opportunity to focus awareness on sexual violence and its prevention.  It is also an opportunity to highlight the efforts of individuals and agencies that provide rape crisis intervention and prevention services while offering support to sexual assault survivors, victims and their families.  SAAM raises awareness of sexual violence and its prevention through special events while highlighting sexual violence as a major public health issue and reinforces the need for prevention efforts."

 

How to get Involved

It's as easy as 1 - 2 - 3

 

The collaborative efforts of White Ribbon, RESPECT, and Hot Pink Ribbon are asking individuals, RSO's and/or other student groups (e.g. residence halls, athletic groups, intramural sports teams, Greek organizations, etc.) for their participation in various projects throughout the month of April.

1) Check Out the Projects

If you want to make a difference in our community and to speak out against sexual violence, consider participating with one of the proposed projects for community involvement.

 

2) Fill Out a Participation Application
If you would like to get involved, fill out the participation application form and submit it online or submit it to STAR Central in the Pat Walker Health Center.

3) Attend the "Day of Action Rally"
Once your application has been filed, you will be notified via email about the Day of Action Rally  to be held on April 3rd at 5:00 pm at the Greek Theater. The Day of Action Rally will be a briefing on the events for the month and also the individual responsibilities of all participants and groups involved. Packets of information/material will be given at this time.
