Increase personal involvement of foreign students/scholars

Scholars on campus and the University of Arkansas internationally

development and an increase and effective use of resources.
THREE-YEAR OBJECTIVES:
2000-2002
- Goal 1: Increase personal involvement
of foreign students/scholars
1.1 Increase participation of foreign students/scholars in orientation
and new student programs.
1.2 Increase participation of foreign students/scholars in outreach
programs.
1.3 Assess students’ interest in involvement.
1.4 Gather information, publicize, and encourage participation in
programs and services that meet these interests.
- Goal 2: Increase collaboration and
partnerships within the communities that we serve
2.1 Identify and partner with academic departments and administrative
units that have interest in foreign students and scholars.
2.2 Visit the communities that we serve in their location or in
informal settings.
2.3 Collaborate with departments and administrative units to expand
international education at the University.
- Goal 3: Increase meaningful contacts
between foreign students/scholars and staff
3.1 Create opportunities to have meaningful contacts with students
prior to their matriculation to the University of Arkansas.
3.2 Be intentional to have meaningful contact with every
student/scholar who comes into the office.
3.3 Collaborate with student organizations and academic departments to
create opportunities for meaningful contacts.
3.4 Conduct programs and services in a variety of venues to create
meaningful and natural contacts.
3.5 Effectively use technology to have meaningful contacts.
- Goal 4: Increase the visibility of
the Office of International Students and Scholars on campus and the University of Arkansas internationally
4.1 Make use of a variety of venues for programs and services.
4.2 Make use of a variety of media to promote staff and student
achievements and programs.
4.3 Partner with alumni and the University's international education
administrators to promote the University abroad.
- Goal 5:
Achieve excellence in service through commitment to professional
development and an increase and effective use of resources.
5.1 Commit ourselves to continual review,
assessment, and improvement.
5.2 Assess technical needs and purchase appropriate equipment.
5.3 Seek out a variety of professional development opportunities that
meet individual staff needs.
5.4. Increase outside funding opportunities.
