Angela Moore, a senior in the Bumpers College Department of Crop, Soils, and Environmental Sciences, participated in a custom-made program to India to record an oral history of the Tibetans living in exile in south India at Geshes monastery. The Tibetans in Exile Today program is sponsored by the UA Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences.
“This was a once in lifetime moment to experience a lifestyle on the opposite side of the world,” Moore said. “The experience provided me with a broader range of human connection and empathy. It certainly made me appreciate what I have.”
In addition to learning about the Tibetans culture and traditions, the group of 15 students and two instructors gained experience on how to operate and handle film equipment to produce a documentary of the program.
“I would highly recommend this program to other students,” Moore said. “It is a rare opportunity for those considering a number of careers, including journalism and international relations.”
Moore received a travel scholarship from Mr. and Mrs. William Millager of Rogers.
