Description:
Help create an online community of fans by following the Arkansas Razorback athletics programs. Blogging and writing about the various teams will be the primary responsibility. The ESPN affiliated web site, CallingtheHogs.com, is currently in development and looking for enthusiastic, proactive interns to complete the staff.
The website will primarily cover the football, basketball, and baseball teams with a heavy emphasis on recruiting. Other sports will also be covered at a lesser degree. Members of the website will have the opportunity to purchase annual or monthly subscriptions for premium insider information. The site will consist of member forums, a Facebook-like community section and chat rooms to help build the community.
We are looking for writers to help us initiate discussion about Razorback athletics throughout the site and to cover the teams/players throughout their respective seasons. You will be in charge of every aspect related to the creation and maintenance of your own blog/articles along with updating Twitter and Facebook daily. You will also have the opportunity to grow the user base and will be compensated accordingly through that growth.
Additionally, successful writers will be given the opportunity to turn the internship into a full-time position.
All work can be done remotely and around your schedule. However, it will be expected that game summaries and player interviews will be published under tight deadlines. Overall expected number of hours worked per week is between 10-20.
Experience/Skills:

·       Must be mature and self-motivated

Tenaris is looking for a recent or December grad to become part of our Global Trainee program (brochure attached) at our mill in Blytheville, Arkansas. This person would work in our North American communications department supporting Employee Communications, and they should have a strong focus in journalism. They would be contributing to our on-line and print publications, and should also have a fairly good background in photojournalism and video projects as well, although not the focus of the job.

DAAD is pleased to announce the third year of “internXchange,” an intensive scholarship-supported summer seminar/internship program in Berlin for 20 American journalism and communications students with strong German language skills.

For the first six weeks of the program, participants will take part in a seminar series to expand their academic understanding of the politics, society and culture of Germany, and the country’s current social conditions and media scene. The final five weeks consist of an intensive internship with a German newspaper, magazine, radio station or PR firm in or near Berlin. Participants receive a stipend and travel subsidy.

The application deadline is January 31, 2010. Up to 40 finalists will be invited to a selection interview in New York City (in early March).

The IRTS Summer Fellowship Program teaches up-and-coming communicators the realities of the media industry and business world through a nine-week , expense-paid fellowship , which includes practical experience and career-planning advice. Fellows gain full-time, “real world” experience at New York-based media companies. In addition, the Fellowship provides the opportunity to network with industry professionals, take related field trips, and attend panels, lectures and group discussions.

AAAS Minority Science Writers Internship

The 2010 AAAS Minority Science Writers Internship application is now available online.

Science is a global activity, but the demographics of the journalists who cover it don’t reflect that diversity. The Minority Science Writers Internship is for undergraduate students who are interested in journalism as a career and who want to learn about science writing.

The Internship takes place each summer at the Washington, D.C., headquarters of AAAS’s Science magazine, the largest interdisciplinary journal in the world. Interns spend 10 weeks at Science under the guidance of award-winning reporters and editors, and have a chance to experience what science writers do for a living. Interns are expected to contribute to the weekly news section, including bylined articles in the print and electronic news service.

The paid internship includes travel costs to and from the internship site in Washington, D.C. Living accommodations and expenses are the responsibility of the Intern. The Internship runs from June to mid-August.

The 2010 summer program application deadline is March 1, 2010. Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate academic program when they submit their application.

The Washington Post offers 12-week, paid reporting internships on the Local, Financial, Sports, Style and Editorial desks, as well as internships for Visual Journalists, Web Producers and Web Designers. It has a heavy Web and multimedia focus and is open to college juniors and seniors, as well as grad students. The program has served as a launching pad for quite a few students, many of whom work today in the Post newsroom and others. The Post requires that intern applicants have previously had at least one professional internship.

The Washington Post is also seeking interns with strong skills and interest in online journalism. Prospective interns must be students currently enrolled in a degree program, and, if selected, must submit one of the following on or before the first day of the internship: 1) documentation showing that academic credit is being received (i.e. a copy of the course registration), or 2) a letter from a professor, department head, or academic advisor stating that the internship significantly contributes to the student’s current degree program, or 3) a letter from the school stating that the internship is part of a work-study or independent study program.

The intern will be assigned a mentor to help teach them the skills that will help qualify them for a job in online journalism.

Hours per week: 16 hours maximum, unpaid, with flexible scheduling.

For 11 days, from Jan 2 through 12, at the University of Arizona in Tucson you have a chance to work one-on-one with journalists from one of the world’s most prestigious publications. You’ll participate with two dozen other students who share your passion for news, forming friendships that will last a lifetime. All costs, including transportation to and from Tucson, are paid by The New York Times, and there’s even a small stipend so you have some spending money in Tucson.

Student participants cover Tucson from a newsroom supervised by Times staffers, who work closely with individual students on their assignments. There are opportunities for student writers, photographers, web producers, page and graphics designers, copy editors and video and audio journalists. (You don’t have to settle on just one thing; the Institute allows you to experiment with a range of newsroom jobs if you want to.) Students work is presented on a Web site (www.nytimes-institute.com) and in a newspaper.
