CONJUGATION of the IMPERFECT TENSE:
- The imperfect tense is formed in two distinct ways dependant on the
MOOD.
INDICATIVE:
- The tense marker [-ba-] is placed between the present verb stem and
the personal endings.
- NOTA BENE: All vowels preceeding the tense marker [-ba-] are LONG.
Also, the vowel of the tense marker is long [-ba-] unless it preceeds
[-m, -t, -nt] or [-r, -ntur].
SUBIUNCTIVE:
- The conjugation of the subjunctive in the imperfect tense is essentially
equivalent to joining the present personal endings to the PRESENT ACTIVE
INFINITIVE. (For the deponent, a hypothetical present active infinitive
is used.)
- NOTA BENE: The final vowel of the infinitive is long [i.e. ama-re-]
unless it preceeds [-m, -t, -nt] or [-r, -ntur].
