Physics Scholarships and Awards

To apply for any of the following scholorships and awards, please fill out the appropriate form. Application deadlines are March 1 of each year. In addition to helping you with school expenses, scholorships and awards are honors that you can proudly include in applications for graduate school or employment.

Scholarships

Physics Faculty Scholarship These scholarships are awarded to outstanding physics majors at any level on the basis of scholastic achievements. Applicants need to submit the appropriate form on the following page by March 1st. The scholarship awards are now $1000 per year, renewable annually upon maintenance of sufficiently high grades and satisfactory progress toward a physics degree. Students who receive a scholarship and who wish to continue that scholarship into their junior and senior years must reapply for a renewal every year by March 1st.

Future Teachers. We have a web page devoted scholarships geared specifically to future teachers.

Other University Scholarships. The University maintains a web site with other scholarships available to students. Please see http://scholarships.uark.edu.

Rear Admiral William C. Bryson Scholarship. . . This endowed scholarship is awarded to outstanding undergraduate physics majors with a demonstrated interest in astronomy. The student must maintain a GPA of 3.0, grades of B or better in physics, astronomy, and math courses, and show satisfactory progress toward a physics degree. The scholarship, now $1,000 per year, is renewable each year providing the criteria are maintained. Reapply yearly by March 1st.

Robert D. Maurer Scholarship, Charles B. Richardson Scholarship, and Paul C. Sharrah Scholarship. These endowed scholarships are awarded to outstanding undergraduate physics majors. The student must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0, grades of B or better in physics, astronomy, and math courses, and show satisfactory progress toward a physics degree. Reapply yearly by March 1st.

Awards

The Lingelbach Award. This endowed cash award is given to an outstanding undergraduate major in physics most years at the honors award ceremony in the Spring.
