About the University of Arkansas

Old MainThe University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, was founded in 1871 as a land-grant institution, and is located in the beautiful Ozark Mountain region, economically and culturally one of the most dynamic in the country. The Fayetteville campus of the University of Arkansas is the state's primary doctoral degree-granting institution.

Approximately 12,900 undergraduate and 3,100 graduate students are enrolled in the Schools of Architecture, the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences, the J. William Fullbright College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Business Education, the College of Engineering, the Graduate School and the School of Law.

The University employs nearly 800 full-time faculty members and more than 2,500 full-time staff. The U of A is one of only five institutions to receive CASE's Circle of Excellence award for development efforts. The University won the award four consecutive years.
