Portal:Honors Thesis
From SPSwiki
This page contains resources for writing honors thesis. To receive honors certain goals must be met: To get honors at all, a student must have a mimimum of 12 hours of honors credit. If a student transfers in UPI and UPII, other things have to happen to make up for these credits. With 12, even with a 4.0 thesis, only cum laude is possible, so the more honors hours the better (dance lecture honors really isn't much worse than dance lecture, etc)
Similarly, a 3.25 is the absolute minimum gpa, and the honors college is considering raising that significantly. Students who cannot attain this gpa cannot graduate with honors, no matter what else they do.
Minimum requirement for level of honors:
- Summa
- Minimum GPA……………………………..3.9
- Minimum Honors Hours……………………24
- Minimum Defense Score…………………...6.5
- Magna
- Minimum GPA…………………………….3.8
- Minimum Honors Hours……………………18

- Cum
- Minimum GPA…………………………….3.25 (3.5 beginning with 2007-2008 Catalog year)

and more hours are always better.
