What is it?

The short answer is the Society of Physics Students, but actually its more than that. You DON'T have to be a Physics major (many aren't) to join, in fact you dont even have to like physics, but liking it certianly helps.

We have many great events, a small newspaper, fun meetings, great speakers, intramural sports and much more. It also has benefits, such as getting a Key to the SPS lounge.

Meetings

Meetings are generally held on the first thursday of every month but are subject to change. The next meeting time should be posted on the Main Page or on the SPS Calendar.

Meeting start out with food, and then we talk about the upcoming events and different things we will be doing. We then normally have a guest speaker talk to us about different things such as Grad School or teaching. Then after the movie we will normally do something such as minature golf, bowling, watching a movie on the projector and other fun things.

Although the time and date or very likley to change.
The meetings are always at PHYS 133/ PHYS 134

Events

There are a wide range of great events that we do. Things like the Haunted Lab a fundraiser were we play with Physics toys and make liquid Nitroge ice cream, or the intramural Soccer games even if you don't play you can cheer for our team. There are many events that are purely for fun to such as SPS Game Night or the Spring and Fall Picnics. There are so many things we do to find out more look at the SPS History or the SPS Calendar
About half of the events are about volunteering. Its a great thing to do and looks good on a resume. So don't be afraid of any of the events they are all great.
