Student
Development Specialists: provide
academic, financial, career, graduate school, and personal
counseling. In addition, SDS staff assists participants
in holistic planning and preparation and inform participants
of academic, social, and cultural enrichment activities
sponsored by the SSS program. SDS staff are here to
guide participants through to the finish line-graduation!
We are a friendly staff ready to listen.
Personal
Development Plan:
an electronic goal-setting tool which participants create
high, but attainable academic, financial, career, and
personal goals. Afterwards, participants commit to the
PDP and leave with a one-page, structured plan of action
for UA success. The PDP represents our commitment to
assist participants in building self-esteem, developing
strong relationships with peers, UA faculty, and UA
staff, and in becoming involved in UA community activities,
events, and Registered Student Organizations. It is
a measurable plan of action based on assessment results,
academic transcript, and financial status.
Packaged
Services: participants can engage in
programs and services that are convenient for your busy
life, yet beneficial to assist you in successfully graduating
from UA. These programs and services include academic
and cultural enrichment opportunities such as a trip
to the Walton Arts Center to see Alvin Ailey Dance Company
and social etiquette instruction. They may also include
financial management activities to learn how to manage
new career and graduate school budgets, negotiate salaries,
and how to purchase homes. SSS also awards great prizes
to Honor Roll recipients and hosts annual hallmark events.
