Verleen
West is a native of San Antonio, Texas. Her last employer was The University
of Texas Health Science Center for over 14 years. She served in four administrative
positions while at the UTHSCSA. Her last and most memorable position was
as an Administrative Coordinator for the Department of Computing Resources.
In March of 2003, Verleen joined the University of Arkansas, Music Department
as a Secretary. She and her husband (Ray) reside on their farm
located in the great foothills of the Ozark Mountains. They enjoy long
scenic walks through the woods and often take day long excursions on their
(ATV’s) all terrain vehicles. This country girl loves the great outdoors
and taking care of her prized chickens, birds, deer and an occasional visit
from black bear. She is a devoted and avid NBA San Antonio “Spurs” fan.
In her spare time, Verleen enjoys gardening, attending auctions, cooking,
refinishing furniture and reading.
Among many other duties, Verleen's responsibilities include assisting undergraduate
Music students with scholarships and enrollment. She is also responsible
for scheduling classes on ISIS and maintaining the Music Building room assignments,
as well as keeping track of the department's time and leave, and payroll
submissions.
