Working on a short paper?

Short papers commonly require a major source, then another book, such as a reference book, a handbook or dictionary, and an additional article or two on the subject.

Sometimes the major source is the play, short story or other work that you are discussing in the paper. Sometimes it is a chapter in the textbook. Your professor may have other requirements. Check your syllabus and assignment sheet. Ask at the Reference Desk for help.
A sample bibliography for a short literary criticism paper might look like this:

Adelman, Janet. Iago's Alter Ego: Race as Projection in Othello. Shakespeare Quarterly v. 48 (Summer '97) : 125-44

Doloff, Steven. Shakespeare's Othello. The Explicator v. 56 (Fall '97) : 12-14

Kay, Dennis. William Shakespeare : His Life and Times. Twayne's English authors series ; New York : Twayne Publishers, 1995.

Shakespeare, William. Othello. The tragedy of Othello, the Moor of Venice. Lawrence Mason, ed. New Haven, [Conn.] : Yale University Press, 1918.
