Top Ten Facts about the University Libraries

10. We are the largest library in the state, with more than 1.6 million volumes and more than 17,000 periodical subscriptions (journals, magazines, newspapers and government documents) among the campus libraries.

9. Mullins is the MAIN library on campus; it has four floors, including one below ground level. Mullins has new reading/study rooms, such as the Helen R. Walton Reading Room on Level Two (entrance level) and renovated areas on several floors.

8. Other libraries on campus include the Fine Arts Library, and Chemistry, Law and Physics libraries.

7. InfoLinks is the online catalog for the University Libraries. InfoLinks can be searched by keyword, author, title and subject. Using InfoLinks, you can find out if a particular book in the libraries is checked out or if an issue of a magazine has been received. You may also use InfoLinks to renew items you have checked out.

6. You can use the Ebscohost or ProQuest databases or a variety of other indexes to find references for articles in journals and magazines, and some articles in electronic full-text.

5. Many library databases are available to our current faculty members, staff members and students, through the Internet. Login using your last name and ID number..

3. Your University I.D. is your library card. Most books check out for sixteen weeks at a time. Call the Circulation Desk to renew materials over the telephone (575-4104), or renew your materials yourself, through InfoLinks, with your name and ID number.

2. Many of your instructors place class notes, readings, and old tests on Reserve. Reserve materials are held at the Circulation Desk. Starting in Fall 2004, many items on Reserve are available electronically. Login with your last name and ID number.You can see what your instructor has on Reserve by clicking on Reserve Lists from the Libraries' home page or from InfoLinks.

1. Mullins Library has miles of shelves! Everyone needs help getting started. Ask at the Reference Desk (librarians are available most of the time that the library is open) or call 575-6645.
