For students with advanced academic abilities, the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences provides a comprehensive program of Honors Studies. This includes the Fulbright College Scholars Program, a four-year interdisciplinary honors program designed for students with the highest academic and artistic ambition, and the Departmental Honors Program, a program that emphasizes directed interdependent study within the department of the student’s major.

Participation in the Fulbright College Honors Program:
To become a member of the Honors College at the University of Arkansas, you need only enroll in the Honors Program of the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences when you arrive on campus for your summer orientation. There is no application process that needs to be completed before you arrive for your orientation session.

Automatic Admission requirements for
the Fulbright College Honors Program:

High school GPA: 3.5
and
ACT/SAT: 28/1240
Students with admission scores slightly below the Fulbright College
Honors Program requirements are invited to speak with a representative
from the Program to discuss provisional enrollment.
We encourage all interested students to attend our Honors information session during summer orientation.


Four-Year Scholars Program
The University's most prestigious Honors Program includes the following requirements:
  • Completion of approximately 50 hours of Honors coursework
  • Satisfaction of specific Honors requirements as determined by the Fulbright Department of your major
  • Maintenance of a 3.25 or higher University GPA
  • Successful completion and defense of an Honors Thesis

Four Year Requirements
Two-Year/Departmental Honors Program
  • Completion of a minimum of 12 hours of Honors coursework
  • Satisfaction of specific Honors requirements as determined by the department of your major
  • Maintenance of a 3.25 or higher University GPA
  • Completion and defense of an Honors Thesis

Departmental Requirements

For Current University of Arkansas Students Interested in the Honors Program:

Students wishing to enroll in the Departmental Honors Program must have a minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA from the University of Arkansas and the recommendation of a faculty member within their major. All departmental scholars must complete and defend an Honors thesis, and take 12 hours (which may include six hours of thesis) of Honors courses. Specific information concerning each department's requirements may be found within the individual department's Catalog of Studies listings.
