Volume Nine "Leaning Curves"
Episodes 89-99

Episode 89
Part One: Instructions for the Guidance and Supervision of the Annual Sports Festival
First published October 30, 1984

The small fox-like creature on Yagami's bag is apparently a character from Takahashi's "Lum" ("Urusei Yatsura") series. (Thanks to "Murasaki" for this info.)

Episode 90
Part Two: Pajama Party
First published November 15, 1984
Episode 91
Part Three: Peejays and Negligees

Episode 92
Part Four: The Long Good-Bye
First published December 15, 1984
Episode 93
Part Five: Just One Wish
First published December 30, 1984
Episode 94
Part Six: Kimono Connection
First published January 15, 1985

First appearance of Yagami's parents.

Episode 95
Part Seven: Birth Is Never as Hard as the Worrying
First published January 30, 1985

This episode must take place only a few days after the previous one, that is, still early in January.

Episode 96
Part Eight: Post-Partum Depression
First published February 15, 1985

This episode takes place immediately after the previous one (evening of the same day).

Episode 97
Part Nine: The Midnight Interview
First published February 28, 1985

This episode begins 3 days after the previous one.

Apparently, the theme of a girl of Yagami's age working to support the man she loves was a rather common one in the "shojo manga" (girl's comics) of the late 70's and early 80's, and Yagami must have been reading some of these. (Thanks again to Murasaki for this info.)

Episode 98
Part Ten: Beyond love and Hate
First published March 15, 1985

In spite of the date of publication, the date given in the story is "the end of January" (first panel of first page), which gives an idea of how long Yagami has been staying at Maison Ikkoku.

Episode 99
Part Eleven: Rose-Colored Glasses
First published March 30, 1985

There is a bizarre error at the end of this episode (in the comic-book version, at least): on the last panel of the last page it says "On the spring in the year of Maison Ikkoku..." which is meaningless as far as I can tell. The original says, instead: "March, 1985"
