HRDV 4663 Leadership in HRD

Prerequisite: HRDV 4233 Leadership in HRD

HRD students are encouraged to consult with their academic advisor before taking any Practicum or non-weekend class to ensure U of A Residency Requirements will be met.

Course Description: HRDV 4663 HRD Leadership Practicum is designed to give students an opportunity to apply theories and principles presented in HRDV 4233 within an organizational setting.  This course is designed to provide you with an introduction to developing / articulating an organizational vision.  Goals of the course are to explore how an organizational vision is developed and apply these principles and practices within the work setting. 

Competencies : Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:

  • Understand the process of creating an organizational vision
  • Practice the vision creation process within their organization
  • Identify barriers and enablers to applying the process within a work setting

Course Requirements: This course is self-paced and requires no group work with other students. However, completing the content of the course will require students to interview, observe, and document appropriate individuals and processes within their organization.

  • Complete 23 Worksheets from A Vision Retreat: A Participant's Workbook.  The 23 worksheets step students through the process of building/documenting an organizational vision.  While students may work at their own pace, students must submit the first 12 worksheets by June 20th. All worksheets are due by June 28th. The completed worksheets are worth 70 points.
  • Grammar and presentation contributes 30 points of your grade.
