Variety Selection

Variety selection is an important management decision in wheat production. It influences yield as well as other inputs that may be necessary during the season. Factors to consider in selecting a variety include:

Adaptation

Disease Resistance

Forage Production

Lodging Resistance

Maturity

Test Weight

Yield Potential

Crop performance trials are conducted annually at several locations across Arkansas to provide information to aid in the variety selection process. The latest information is available online at this site and in printed form in the booklet Arkansas Wheat Performance Tests and Variety Selection, which can be obtained from your county agent or the Agricultural Extension Service office in Little Rock.
