Attributes:
AR 839 is an awned, white chaffed line with excellent winter hardiness and good straw strength. It has a high yield potential and excellent test weight. It is a sib-line to Pat and is similar in performance and appearance except that it averages 34 inches tall and is approximately 3 days earlier in maturity. It is resistant to soilborne wheat mosaic, wheat spindle streak mosaic and stripe rust; moderately resistant to leaf rust; moderately susceptible to septoria leaf blotch. Results from the USDA Soft Wheat Quality Lab indicate that AR839 has excellent milling characteristics and excellent baking characteristics.
