Now I will not be so blind as to say that every one running has your best interest at heart. I hear you out there saying "Reverend, they are just running to pad their resume, they don’t care about us."

ASG elections important to student life

Brothers and sisters, I come to you today with a hope in my heart. I have a dream that comes from the very depths of my soul. I pray to the good lord above that every single one of my brothers and sisters turn out to vote in the Associated Student Government elections.

Now you may say "Brother Billy Bob why should we care about some little election like the ASG, does it really matter?" Well, I tell you it does matter. It matters more then I can possibly convey with just words.

This is the most local of local elections. The people that are elected will have the most direct influence on your college years. They will be your weapon and your shield in the battles over your education. Whoever is elected is a reflection of you.

A beautiful young sister told me the other night that she doesn’t care about local stuff and only votes in national elections.

My friends, people who run in national elections have already been bought and sold by the devil. They don’t care about you. They only care about their master’s bidding and green dollars they follow. In this election, however, you have a chance to make a difference and elect people who actually care about you.

Now I will not be so blind as to say that every one running has your best interest at heart. I hear you out there saying "Reverend, they are just running to pad their resume, they don’t care about us."

Bothers and sisters, the good lord has given me the same vision that has been given to you. But it’s hard to see through all the muck and mire that we have to wade through every day. Some times we can be blinded, sometimes the devil can blind us with lies and complacency. I myself have hidden behind blind eyes thinking it would protect from the world.

Yes brothers and sisters, even Reverend Billy Bob has closed his eyes to the world around him. Not this time, oh no, I SAY GOOD LORD NOT THIS TIME.

I have cleaned the filth from my eyes and I see clean. Now everybody out there, take your hands and wipe your eyes clean. Do it. Do it now. Let the light and goodness come into your eyes and see clearly. Your blindness is healed. YOU ARE BLIND NO MORE.

Now take your new eyes out and look at our university elections. Look at all those young people running and figure out who is there for you, and who is there for themselves. Cast out the self-serving fools and champion the one that will champion you.

And vote, by God. VOTE I SAY. This is where you have the power to make a change and start people on the path of goodness and righteousness. But if you don’t vote, you are still blind, and I beg your forgiveness because the devil has a stronger hold on you then I can break.

If you don't vote then I will pray for you, because if you don't vote I know you need all the help you can get.

Don’t forget to vote online at the ASG homepage www.uark.edu/studorg/asg March 6 and 7.
