Little Nicky, little good

by Amanda Center
15 NOVEMBER 2000

This weekend I had the displeasure of going to see Adam Sandler's latest foray into the motion picture business. At first, I thought the premise was promising and the cast of characters would surely be able to pull off such a farce. But twenty minutes into the movie, I knew I was wrong.

Adam Sandler plays Little Nicky, Satan's third son, and he has to go to New York to retrieve his two brothers or his dad will die. Nicky is a mild-mannered, quiet boy who doesn't seem to possess the evilness of his family line, so when he gets to Earth, he has a hard time getting around. So, a talking dog is brought in for comic relief and to help Lil' Nick out. He falls in love, rooms with a psuedo-homosexual, and receives two followers; hmm. this is all starting to sound like the plot of a Friends episode, but unfortunately, the movie is far worse than that.

There are some good, funny moments in Little Nicky, but not enough to make me even halfway like the film, and I think that when a movie has to rely on a trash talking dog having sex, then your really stretching for some good comedy. I do not recommend this movie, not even when it comes out video. This movie was a waste of money and a waste of precious time from my life.
