Title: “Drug Abuse in Rural Communities”
This presentation overviews recent trends in rural durg abuse, the social and economic impact of rural drug abuse, and the availability of treatment form drug abuse in rural communities. Emphasis will be given to the methamphetamine problem in Arkansas . Audience discussion is encouraged.
Susan Takigiku (Ta-key-gee-ku) received her Ph.D. from Purdue University . Her research focuses on family and social problems associated with drug abuse, with an emphasis on methamphetamine abuse. Dr. Takigiku teaches a course on Families in Crisis and Parenting and Family Dynamics at the University of Arkansas , Fayetteville . Dr Takigiku is a Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) through the National Council on Family Relations.
