On other pages on our site, you may have noticed the "Bobby Approved" logo. This means that our pages are programmed accessibly -- they can be used not only by people viewing them visually in a "standard" browser (such as Internet Explorer or Netscape) but can also be used by people using screen readers, slow connections, and/or alternative browsers (such as Lynx or Opera). In this page and the following pages we'd like to demonstrate for you a little of what it is like to access a webpage that is inaccessibly programmed, give you a few hints about how you can make your own pages more accessible, and even "turn the tables" by providing a page that is accessible via a screen reader but not by your eyes. We hope you enjoy the demonstration; please feel free to send comments to tlwells@uark.edu. |
