About Us
The Education Working Paper Archive is an online, refereed, scholarly archive maintained by the University of Arkansas’s Department of Education Reform. EWPA provides academics, public officials, and the public with quality research on issues facing American public education today. The EWPA strives to improve education policy by informing policy debates with timely research that meets professional academic standards.

The Department of Education Reform

The Department of Education Reform (EDRE / DER) is the newest department in the College of Education and Health Professions, established on July 1, 2005. The creation of the Department of Education Reform was made possible through a $10,000,000 private gift and an additional $10,000,000 from the University’s Matching Gift Program. This gift is one of the largest ever received by a college of education in the country. With these resources the department has six endowed professorships, ten doctoral fellowships, and funds for research and projects.

The mission of the Department of Education Reform is to advance education and economic development in Arkansas and nationwide by focusing on the improvement of K-12 schools. The Department of Education Reform is committed to producing and disseminating high-quality research that will inform policymakers, scholars, parents, teachers, administrators and the general public about policies and practices that could improve the performance of schools in Arkansas and nationwide. By gathering a critical mass of leading researchers focused on education reform, the Department of Education Reform will be uniquely positioned to have a meaningful impact on education policy research and the quality of schools.
