Jonathan Butcher is a Research Associate and Chief of Staff for the Department of Education Reform at the University of Arkansas. Prior to coming to the University he spent nearly three years researching education and family policy at The Heritage Foundation, a public policy research institute in Washington, DC. He authored and co-authored papers on vouchers, charter schools, and other forms of school choice. In 2003 he assisted in the production of School Choice 2003: What’s Happening in the States, a book published regularly by Heritage on school choice in the United States. After the book’s release, he managed Heritage’s Choices in Education web site, their web portal on education reform. His articles have appeared in the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, The Washington Times, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Kansas City Star, and on FoxNews.com and National Review Online. He has appeared on FoxNews, several radio programs, and been intereviewed by numerous major newspapers. He received his B.A. in English from Furman University and is working on an MA in economics from the University of Arkansas.
