The Department of Education Reform offers two competitive and attractive merit based fellowship awards. The Distinguished Doctoral Fellowship provides full tuition plus a total annual stipend of $30,000 and the Doctoral Academy Fellowship provides full tuition plus a total annual stipend of $20,000. Each of these awards allows for the candidate to gain valuable experience by doing research for 20 hours per week in the Department of Education Reform.

Distinguished Doctoral Fellowships (DDF)

The Department of Education Reform will nominate a limited number (approximately 2 positions) of qualified applicants to be considered for Distinguished Doctoral Fellowships. Recipients of the DDF will have tuition paid for degree-related coursework, but are still responsible for miscellaneous fees. In addition, DDF Recipients will receive a total annual award stipend of $30, 000 paid out equally over 12 months and renewable for up to three years after the initial award year (4 years total). Distinguished Doctoral Fellows will hold a half-time, 12-month graduate assistant position in the Department of Education Reform, requiring 20 hours of research work per week. Distinguished Doctoral Fellowship nominations go before committee review once a year on March 1st. All students wishing to be considered for a DDF should have all necessary application materials to the Department of Education Reform no later than February 1st.

Doctoral Academy Fellowships (DAF)

The Department of Education Reform will nominate qualified applicants to be considered for Doctoral Academy Fellowships (approximately 7 positions). Recipients of the DAF will have tuition paid for degree-related coursework, but are still responsible for miscellaneous fees. In addition DAF recipients will receive a total annual award stipend of $20,000 paid out equally over 12 months and renewable for up to three years after the initial award year (4 years total). Doctoral Academy Fellows will hold a half-time, 12 month graduate assistant position in the Department of Education Reform, requiring 20 hours of research work per week. Applications for Doctoral Academy Fellowships are considered continuously throughout the year, once nominated applications are forwarded to the Graduate School for immediate action.
