Simchat Torah Procession! by Daniel Levine
I want to thank everyone who helped in the success of
last week's Torah Procession from Hillel to the new synagogue;
the problem is that so many people helped, I'm afraid
I can't remember them all!
It was a great idea, conceived by Judith Levine with Gene
Tweraser doing a masterful job of coordinating the process.
Joel Freund transported the ark to the synagogue. Rabbi
Jacob Adler made a beautiful speech and led the march, the
singing, and the dancing. Jeremy Hess and his guitar lent so
much good spirit. Our Temple members carried the scrolls on
the long walk -- thanks to them all! Joel Giarrusso and others
helped with the bounteous snack. I know there were many more
of us who worked on this event, and I thank them, too! And
let's not forget to thank our children, who made beautiful flags
and banners, and participated with such RUACH.
May we continue to have simchas like last
week's Simchat Torah march!

Bar / Bat Mitzvah Requirements
An important reminder to parents of Bar/Bat Mitzvah candidates. Temple policy requires that students preparing for B'nei Mitzvah attend rabbi-led services regularly for the year before their scheduled Bar/Bat Mitzvah date. This is a learning requirement. We want candidates to be familiar with a service before having to lead one themselves. Students who can't attend services should contact Rabbi Jacob in advance.
