The Andromeda Project

Projects in the Arkansas Center for Space and Planetary Sciences are often named after characters in Greek mythology, and members of the Keck Laboratory refer to the large environmental chamber as “Andromeda” and the work performed in the chamber as “the Andromeda Project”.  Andromeda is also the name of a nearby spiral galaxy located in the constellation of Andromeda and has frequently been used in science fiction stories, such as Michael Crichton’s “Andromeda Strain” or Fred Hoyle’s “A for Andromeda”.  The logo hangs over the door to the laboratory housing the Andromeda chamber.
