The Andromeda Planetary Environmental Chamber

The Keck laboratory operates several chambers designed to reproduce conditions in space or on planetary surfaces.  The largest, called Andromeda by laboratory members, is 61 cm in diameter and 208 cm deep, large enough for a person to stand in.  Buckets and other experimental platforms can be lowered into the chamber to investigate processes on the surfaces of planets and small bodies in space.
