Classics is the oldest discipline in the humanities, and remains central to most of them. Based on Greek and Latin literature, it includes the study of ancient art, architecture, history, mythology, and philosophy. Studying classics will teach you a lot about why our world is the way it is, and perhaps inspire you to make it better. Housed in the Department of Foreign Languages, the Classical Studies program at the University of Arkansas includes faculty from five different departments. In addition to Greek and Latin, honors courses are offered in various aspects of Greek and Roman civilization, and summer study abroad programs in Greece and Italy are available.
