Upcoming Events in the PUBP Research and Professional Development Series

RPD Fall 2009 Schedule

Welcome to the Fall 2009 Research and Professional Development (RPD) Series Schedule.

As you may know, these RPD sessions include on-going research presentations but also discussions/presentations regarding professional development both inside and outside of the academy. Typically, these sessions are organized as faculty and student panel discussions or in the alternative, as research presentations. All sessions, unless otherwise noted, are held on Fridays, in Old Main 523, and run from noon to one pm.

This semester we will have two (2) sessions.

  • First, Drs. Brinck Kerr and Bill Schreckhise will present their (additional co-authors include Drs. William Miller and Margaret Reid) award winning (Best Paper, 2008 Arkansas Political Science Association Urban Politics Section) paper entitled: When Does Politics Matter? A Reexamination of the Determinants of African American and Latino Municipal Employment Patterns. This session is scheduled for Friday October 16, from noon until one pm. Please come join us for this presentation and as usual, lunch will be provided. Also, because we will have room for another presentation, if there is another faculty member that wishes to share his or her research with us on this day, please do not hesitate to contact me (vhunt@uark.edu).
  • Second, Dr. John Gaber will give a presentation on the mixed method (qualitative and quantitative) approach to community planning and policy analysis. His work, along with co-author Dr. Sharon Gaber, appears in their book, Qualitative Analysis for Planning and Policy: Beyond the Numbers. This session is scheduled for Friday, November 13, from noon until one pm. Please come join us for this presentation and as usual, lunch will be provided.

Thank you,
Dr. Valerie Hunt
