International Students and Scholars serves international students, scholars and their family members at the university, to enhance the global awareness of the University of Arkansas community. We also provide a variety of programs designed to help students, scholars and their family members learn more about U. S. life and culture while enriching the community's understanding and appreciation of the many countries and cultures which our students represent.

Spring International Language Center (SILC)

Spring International Language Center is an intensive English language program which prepares international students for U.S. universities, including English language mastery, research skills, academic writing, and cultural orientation. SILC also offers professional training for teachers of English as a foreign language. The program has 6 levels of courses from elementary to advanced and an expert ESL faculty, some with more than 20 years of experience. Graduation from this program allows admission to the University of Arkansas without a TOEFL score. SILC also offers special short courses on request and has an excellent homestay program.

Center for Students with Disabilities

Working in partnership with faculty and staff, this office facilitates accommodations for students with disabilities in academic and non-academic endeavors. Programs and services include first-year student-mentoring program, an assistive technology lab and adaptive devices.

Enhanced Learning Center

This center offers tutoring; peer assisted study groups; academic, financial aid and personal counseling; as well as consulting sessions on time management, test taking and study skills to all students.

Transportation System

The Transit Department operates eight buses on five routes for UA students living on and off campus.The bus routes serve most apartment complexes and major shopping centers, as well as the UA campus.  Air access to Fayetteville is conveniently available via the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport (XNA).
